Why I built this

After helping hundreds of people find remote work, I kept seeing the same problem. People were juggling five or ten different tools just to apply for one job: one for the CV, another for interview prep, another for aptitude tests. I built RemoteReady to put it all in one place and make getting a remote job simpler, especially for us in Africa.

Currently in Beta. Join the first users and help shape what comes next.

Find Real Remote Jobs

Hand-picked sites that genuinely hire from Kenya and Africa, sorted by the kind of work you do. Every site here is real and free to join. Read the scam warning box first, then pick your category.

⚠ Read this first: how to spot a scam

A real job never asks you to pay to start. If a site asks for a registration fee, a training fee, or money to unlock tasks, walk away. Be careful of anyone promising huge money fast, like KES 80,000 in your first week. Real online work starts small, around KES 3,000 to 35,000 a month while you learn, and grows over time. Never share your M-Pesa PIN or send money to claim a job. Genuine platforms pay you, not the other way around.

💬 Chat Moderation & Chatter Jobs

Operator and chat moderation platforms. These hire worldwide and pay per message or per hour.

🔥 OnlyFans Chatter Agencies

Agencies that hire chatters to manage subscriber conversations and sell PPV content for creators. Most hire worldwide, train you free, and pay per hour plus commission. You must be 18+, type 40+ WPM, and have strong written English.

Chatter scam warning: A real agency never charges you to start or train. Never pay a "setup fee" or send money to get hired. Never share your own bank or M-Pesa PIN. Be wary of "$10,000 a month guaranteed" promises. A real agency has a proper website, clear pay terms, and free training. If they are vague or rushing you to sign, walk away.

🎧 Customer Support

Help customers by chat, email, and phone. Strong English is the main requirement.

🗂 Virtual Assistant (General)

Admin, email, scheduling, social media, and research support for busy clients abroad.

🩺 Medical Virtual Assistant

Support doctors and clinics with scheduling, charting, and documentation. Pays more than general VA. A medical terminology course helps a lot (see Free Courses tab).

⌨ Data Entry & Microtasks

Small online tasks like data entry, surveys, and transcription. Good starting point with no experience. Earnings start small and grow.

🤖 AI Training Jobs — $15 to $100+/hr

Rate AI responses, write prompts, evaluate quality, and give feedback that trains AI models. No coding needed for most roles. Higher pay than most remote jobs. We have a full dedicated guide — click the AI Training Jobs tab above.

🇰🇪 Kenya & Africa Job Boards

General boards listing all kinds of remote and local roles hiring from Kenya and Africa.

AI Training Jobs — Crash Course

Everything you need to apply, pass assessments, and start earning from AI training platforms. Based on real experience working on these platforms. Work through each module in order.

🎓 What you will learn in this course

How AI training work actually works. How to write prompts that platforms accept. How to rate and evaluate AI responses correctly. How to pass assessments on Stellar AI, Alignerr, DataAnnotation, and Appen. Common mistakes that get people rejected. How to earn consistently once you are accepted.

Module 1 — Understanding AI Training Work

What you are actually doing. AI companies build language models (like ChatGPT) that need human feedback to improve. Your job is to be that human feedback. You are not building AI. You are teaching it what good looks like by showing it examples, rating its responses, and correcting its mistakes.
The three types of tasks you will see. (1) Rating tasks — you see an AI response and score it on helpfulness, accuracy, and safety. (2) Comparison tasks — you see two AI responses and choose which is better and why. (3) Writing tasks — you write a better response than the AI wrote, or you create a prompt for the AI to practice on.
What platforms actually care about. Every major platform trains AI on three principles: Helpful (does it actually answer the question?), Harmless (does it cause no damage to anyone?), Honest (is it truthful and not making things up?). Learn these three words. They come up in every assessment.
Who earns the most. People with writing expertise, domain knowledge (medicine, law, STEM, finance), and African languages earn more because these are harder to find. You do not need to be an expert to start — but the more you know, the more you earn.

Module 2 — Prompt Engineering (How to Write Good Prompts)

Prompt writing is one of the highest-paying AI training tasks. Platforms need humans to write realistic, diverse, and challenging questions that test AI models. Here is how to do it well.

What makes a good prompt. A good prompt is something a real person would actually ask. It is specific enough to have a clear answer, but open enough to let the AI reason through it. Bad prompt: "Tell me about Kenya." Good prompt: "What are the three main industries driving economic growth in Kenya in 2026, and what challenges does each face?"
The four types of prompts platforms want. (1) Factual — questions with verifiable answers. (2) Reasoning — questions that require logic or step-by-step thinking. (3) Creative — writing tasks, stories, emails, descriptions. (4) Conversational — natural back-and-forth dialogue that tests how the AI handles a real conversation.
How to make prompts diverse. Platforms do not want ten variations of the same question. They want prompts that vary in: topic, difficulty level, tone (formal vs casual), length of expected answer, and type of thinking required. Mix them up deliberately.
Common prompt mistakes that get rejected. Too vague ("Tell me something interesting"). Too simple ("What is 2+2"). Offensive or harmful topics. Prompts that assume context the AI cannot have ("Continue from where we left off"). Grammatically wrong prompts — the AI cannot train on broken English.
Practice exercise. Write five prompts on any topic you know well. Make one factual, one reasoning, one creative, one conversational, and one that mixes two types. Then use the Answer Tool on this site to test how the AI responds. If the AI gives a vague or unhelpful answer, your prompt was probably too vague. Sharpen it.

Module 3 — Rating AI Responses

Rating tasks are the most common task you will do on any platform. Here is exactly how to approach them so your scores stay high and your account stays active.

The rating criteria every platform uses. You will always be rating on some version of these: Helpfulness (did it answer the question fully?), Accuracy (is the information correct?), Safety (did it cause any harm or give dangerous advice?), Clarity (was it easy to understand?), Completeness (did it cover everything needed?).
How to rate helpfulness. Ask yourself: if a real person asked this question and got this response, would they have what they need? A helpful response directly addresses the question, gives enough detail without being overwhelming, and does not make the person ask a follow-up question to get the basic answer.
How to rate accuracy. If you know the topic, check the facts. If you do not know the topic well enough to verify, flag it as uncertain rather than guessing. Getting accuracy wrong is one of the fastest ways to get a low quality score. When in doubt, be honest in your notes.
How to spot a harmful response. A harmful response gives medical advice without recommending a doctor, provides dangerous instructions (how to make weapons, drugs), encourages illegal activity, discriminates against any group, or generates content that could harm a vulnerable person. Always flag these clearly.
The comparison task (picking the better response). When you see two responses side by side, do not just pick the longer one. Ask: which one actually answered the question better? Which one is more accurate? Which one is clearer and easier to follow? Write a specific reason for your choice — platforms can see your reasoning and it affects your quality score.
The biggest rating mistake. Rating everything as good. Platforms know that not every AI response is excellent. If your ratings never include low scores, they flag your account for not paying attention. Be honest, even when it means giving a low score to a response that looks okay on the surface.

Module 4 — Evaluating Response Quality

Quality evaluation goes deeper than basic rating. On higher-paying projects, you will be asked to give detailed written feedback explaining exactly what is wrong and how to fix it.

How to write a good evaluation. Be specific. Do not write "this response is bad." Write "this response incorrectly states that Kenya's capital is Mombasa when it is Nairobi, and the second paragraph repeats the same point three times without adding new information." Specific feedback is what trains the AI. Vague feedback teaches it nothing.
The five things to check in every response. (1) Does it answer the actual question asked, not a similar question? (2) Are all facts verifiable and correct? (3) Is the tone appropriate for the context (formal where needed, friendly where needed)? (4) Does it have a clear structure — introduction, main point, conclusion where appropriate? (5) Does it stop at the right length, or does it ramble?
Evaluating creative writing tasks. For creative tasks, quality means: does it follow the instructions given? Is the writing engaging and natural, not robotic? Does it avoid clichés and generic phrases? Does it show original thinking? A creative response that sounds like a template is always lower quality than one that feels personal and specific.
Evaluating reasoning tasks. For math, logic, or analysis tasks: does the AI show its working? Are the steps logical and in the right order? Does the conclusion follow from the reasoning? An AI that gives the right answer but wrong reasoning is still a problem — it will fail on the next slightly different question.
Writing your improvement suggestion. After identifying what is wrong, always suggest how to fix it. "Remove the repeated paragraph" or "Add a source to verify the statistic in line 3" or "Rewrite the opening sentence to directly address the question instead of starting with background." Concrete suggestions are worth more than criticism alone.

Module 5 — Passing Platform Assessments

Most platforms require you to pass an assessment before you can start earning. Here is exactly how to prepare for the most common ones.

Before you start any assessment. Read every word of the guidelines document the platform gives you. This is not optional. Assessments are designed to catch people who skipped the guidelines. Platforms often include deliberate edge cases that only make sense if you read the full guidelines.
Stellar AI assessment. Focuses on your ability to evaluate response quality and write clear prompts. You will be shown AI responses and asked to rate and explain your ratings. Read their quality rubric carefully before starting. They want specific, written reasoning for every score — not just numbers.
Alignerr assessment. After signing up and submitting your resume, you complete a written skills assessment. They test English writing quality, ability to follow instructions precisely, and reasoning skills. Write in clear, complete sentences. Avoid bullet points unless specifically asked. Show your thinking.
DataAnnotation assessment. Writing-based test that evaluates how well you can rate and compare AI-generated text. They are looking for consistency — your ratings across similar responses should be consistent, not random. Read the rubric, apply it the same way every time.
Appen assessment. Varies by project. Search evaluation projects test whether you can judge if a search result is relevant to a query. Annotation projects test whether you can follow detailed labeling guidelines. The key is precision — do exactly what the guideline says, no more, no less.
If you fail. Most platforms allow retakes after a waiting period (usually 7 to 30 days). Do not try to immediately retake it. Use the waiting period to practice using the tools on this site, re-read the guidelines, and identify specifically where your responses may have deviated from what they wanted.

Module 6 — Common Interview Questions and How to Answer Them

Some platforms conduct short interviews or video screening before accepting you. Here are the most common questions and strong answers.

Q: Why do you want to work in AI training?

Strong answer: "I am interested in how AI models learn and improve, and I want to contribute to that process. I have strong written English and attention to detail, which I understand are the key skills for this work. I also see AI training as a way to build expertise that is increasingly valuable in the job market."

Q: How do you decide if an AI response is good or bad?

Strong answer: "I evaluate on three dimensions — helpfulness (does it fully answer the question?), accuracy (are the facts correct?), and safety (does it avoid causing harm?). A good response does all three. A response can be helpful but inaccurate, or accurate but unhelpful. All three need to be present for a high rating."

Q: What would you do if you were not sure whether a response was accurate?

Strong answer: "I would not guess. I would flag it as uncertain in my evaluation and note that I could not verify the specific claim. Marking something as accurate when I am not sure is worse than flagging it, because it gives the AI model a false signal."

Q: How do you handle repetitive work?

Strong answer: "I treat each task as independent and apply the guidelines consistently regardless of how similar it looks to a previous task. I know that inconsistency is one of the things that lowers quality scores, so I resist the urge to rush through tasks that seem familiar."

Q: Tell me about a time you caught an error or noticed something others missed.

Strong answer: Use a real example from school, work, or daily life. Structure it as: what the situation was, what you noticed, what you did about it, and what the result was. Even a simple example works — "I noticed a factual error in a document before it was sent to a client and flagged it to my supervisor before it caused confusion."

Q: What languages do you speak fluently?

Strong answer: Be honest and specific. If you speak Swahili, Luo, Kikuyu, or any other African language fluently, mention it. These are in high demand on platforms like Appen and Stellar AI. Even if English is your strongest language, multilingual skills unlock more projects and higher pay.

Q: Are you available for a minimum number of hours per week?

Strong answer: Be honest about your actual availability. Many platforms require 10 to 20 hours minimum per week on active projects. If you cannot commit to that during busy periods, say so — it is better to be honest than to be deactivated later for not meeting minimums.
